    German Armed Forces

The German Armed Forces, known in German as “Bundeswehr,” is the unified military of Germany. Established in 1955, it comprises the Army (Heer), Navy (Marine), and Air Force (Luftwaffe), along with support and medical services. The Bundeswehr’s primary roles include national defense, ensuring Germany’s territorial integrity, and contributing to international peacekeeping and security operations. It operates under civilian control, with the Federal Ministry of Defense overseeing military affairs. The German Armed Forces are also involved in various NATO missions and collaborations with international partners. As of the 21st century, the Bundeswehr has been involved in missions in regions like Afghanistan, the Balkans, and Africa, reflecting Germany’s commitment to collective security and international cooperation.
